Moravský Krumlov 2022

Even though it has already been some time since it all went down at Moravský Krumlov Open 2022, the second stop of the KOSTKA stav Czech Discgolf tour, we thought it would still be good to take a look back on what happened at this tournament. There was even broken one big milestone after this tournament. Keep reading, if you are interested in what it is.

New Layout

This year’s Moravský Krumlov was different mainly in terms of the course. The first eight holes were played at Střelnice, which is situated near the castle park. It prides itself on huge fairways surrounded by forest as well as with a view of the Chapel of St. Florian. This part of the course reminded many players of holes that were played in Chřiby two years ago.

The rest of the course was traditionally played in Castle park. Some holes remained the same as in the past years, but there were still some changes. There were 2 new par 4, which were combinations of old holes. Overall, I liked the new layout, there were a lot of difficult holes on the course that presented a big challenge for me, and that’s how I think it should be on a course in the top Czech league.

During the tournament, the sun was shining on us most of the time and it was very strong. It was very muggy and we had a few thunderstorms. Personally, I found this weather quite a problem because it made my hands sweat a lot and I felt like nothing was helping.

Another surprise that has already been revealed at the tournament is our new green proDiscgolf.cz jerseys! You can see them above in the photo with Martin Opršal or below in the photo with me. What do you think, do you like them?

My game

I was kind of satisfied with the was I was paying during my practice round and also in the first round. It felt OK, I was slightly nervous but felt good overall. But then something changed. I was having trouble with my grip, it just felt so sticky and I had some unfortunate griplocks. There were so many of them that It got to my head and I felt insecure.

I’m sorry about it, but it’s just been too much for me lately and because of the stress of the current exam period at school, I’ve been internally too tired and couldn’t quite cope. But now I’m finally done with exams and playing more and more and I can’t wait for a summer full of disc golf! Lesson for next time: I just don’t need to be everywhere, and in the future, it might be better if I take a break from tournaments during the exam period.

Acknowledgements

I would like to thank the guys from Krumlov for preparing the tournament. And also to everyone else who helped with the preparation. It was great and you could see that they put a lot of work into it. Also, you couldn’t help to notice a lot of happy players who enjoyed the tournament to the fullest and took away experiences.
