First PDGA Event in HEIPARK Tošovice
Proper course, strong competition and april weather. That‘s what Heipark Open 2019 puts together in one sentence. But because this can be described in much more detail we created this article, where we will have a look from different perspectives: course designer‘s, tournament director‘s and photographer‘s.
As any of the regular visitor of this web knows well (hopefully), we will do anything for discgolf. It‘s not only about selling discs and counting coins, but mostly about pushing our dear sport further and higher. Whether it is by building courses, organizing small or big tournaments, or something completely different.
Behind the Heipark Open tournament is as usual our team, which consists of Petr Bujnošek (tournament director and course builder), Přemysl Novák (course designer), Michal Grepl (course builders right hand) and Kryštof Novák (PDGA official and master of tournament administration). So the tournaments is organized directly by proDiscgolf.cz with support of DiscGolfParku Česká republika, HEIPARKu Tošovice, ASFitness Nový Jičín a České asociace discgolfu.
When we decided to design a course at HEIPARK Tošovice, it was a great challenge for us. Designing an ideal course for such a beautiful place was a tough task.

Few words from tournament director
We were really pumped for organizing tournament in Heipark Open after designing the course. We added a bit more open back 9, to an already existing and very demanding front 9. The back 9 offered almost everything that discgolfer could wish for. The first points of preparations for tournament were solved with help of HEIPARK which gave us huge support for this tournament. Whether it was a cozy tournament center or providing funds to build the course. The course was built during beautiful weather and it was a pleasure to create every detail of it. After 2 days of work the course was ready for tournament.
Low attendance at Friday‘s tournament meeting was a bit dissapointing, but it was soon replaced by the thrill of first thrown discs. Saturday was marked by difficult conditions, but players managed to play everything that was necessary. After first round the leader of MPO was the course designer himself Přemek Novák, chasing him was the current Central European Champion Michael Rádl and a junior from Nový Jičín Šimon Galia. In second round the lead was tied by Bohdan Bílek (European Champion in MJ18) to tie with consistent play of Rádl. Two strokes were missed by Albatros team‘s Kryštof Novák and Šimon Galia, another stroke behind was Přemek Novák. In FPO the leader was Eliška Bártková (Czech Champion 2018), in MP40 Nový Jičín Gator‘s Radek Knápek and from Fénix Brno Roman Ševčík, in MJ15 Jan Janků from Přerov together with Prague‘s Vojta Šváb and in MP50 Radek Čižmař from Ostrava. Saturday‘s program was closed by traditional putting contest and player‘s party.
On Sunday, the final day, we were welcomed by sun and almost perfect discgolf weather. Both players and organizers enjoyed the beautifully prepared course. This day was truly special and it made some players do incredible things. Optimistic weather helped the most to Šimona Galii, who played in first MPO flight and right on the second hole he threw a 100 meter throw-in right into the basket(and scored an incredible eagle), just to add up another 70m throw-in on hole number 5 (and scored another eagle). Albatros team’s Jakub Knápek was in a similar situation,when he threw-in on 5th hole an eagle just few minutes in front of Šimon and added an ace on 13th hole. Both took nice rewards for eagles and Jakub took the whole acepool as he scored the only ace in tournament. Overall winner of this tournament was surprisingly (even he was surprised) Kryštof Novák, who played a solid last round and surpased his competition of Bohdana Bílek and Přemek Novák by one stroke. In FPO the lead was comfortably maintained by Eliška Bártková, in MP40 Radek Knápek won, in MP50 Pavel Marišinec from Ostrava won and in MJ15 after a throw-off Jan Janků from Přerov.
Awarding the players with prizes and giving them thanks was a sweet dot after a tournament in Heiparku Tošovice. The final applause to the organizers was heart warming, we thank you for your support and we’r looking forwards for nex tournament!
