Albatros Team in 2019

It is what it is our dear friends. Year 2019 is here and with it new goals, challenges a plans for upcoming discgolf season. Discgolf tournaments that are part of 1st Czech discgolf league are far from a weekend meeting of disc lovers, it’s a showcase of athletes in club jerseys, that are trying their best to represent their home club. In the tournament they compete on the edge of their abilities and do their best to take points into the 1st league. And what’s even better, more and more Czech players visit international tournaments. . All of this is a strong indication that discgolf became a passion for many of them. Players spend their free time practicing and developing their skills to become better players. But everyone who has their eyes open and who is watching the development of Czech discgolf year by year certainly noticed that there are some new young players coming up. These are boys and girls, who right after they come back home from school go to their local course or practice field and truly dream about becoming profesionals. Their role models are most often Paulu McBeth, Ricky Wysocki or Eagle McMahon. And the questions is: “What is preventing them from reaching their level once ?”

We in Albatros team believe, that this dream (which could sound quite unrealistic for some people) is real. The futurue is, undoubtedly in our youth. And for us, year 2019 is a step forwards towards that future. We hired three new young players into the team!

First of them is Martin Opršal, thirteen year old talent from Brno, 2nd best player in Czech republic’s MJ15 for year 2018 and two times winner of South Moravian league. His strong side is his putting and his character. Martin dreams about playing international tournaments soon. He would love to play in Finland. His current goal is to become a Czech Champion.

Another new player is Tomáš Mozola, Champion of Slovak republic in MJ12. Tomáš is a great hope for Slovak discgolf in the future. He visited many Czech tournament together with this father and took some victories there. His goal is to succeed in professional discgolf and to promote it among young people in Slovakia.

And the biggest surprise at the endEliška Bártková. 17 years old Czech discgolf Champion in FPO for year 2018, winner of some of the 1. DGL and great talent, that has been recognized even in Finland. We are very happy that Eliška decided for Albatros team and we are looking forwards to working together with her.

At the same time we are saying goodbye to Karel Hlava and Jarča Havířová, who are leaving Albatros. Both were part of the team from the very beginning and they represented our team very well. We enjoyed and celebrated their success together and we will continue. We became friends over that period and this bond will remain strong forever.

Year 2019 is just starting. What happens tomorrow, next week or next month is in the stars. But what’s clear is that we are heading towards those stars even though the road is not going to be easy. They don’t say for no reason- “Per Aspera ad Astra”! We believe, that Martin, Tomáš and Eliška start to make their dreams into reality with us and will win for Czech Republic (or for Slovak republic) another incredible success as our Bohdan did last year.

We wish to all of you a lot of success in the upcoming season and a lot of reached goals. See you soon at the spring tournaments.
